Jiangsu University Automotive Engineering Research Institute 2024 PhD Admission Review and Admission Implementation Rules

In order to do a good job in the review and admission of 2024 doctoral students of the College, according to the requirements of ‘Jiangsu University 2024 Doctoral Admission Brief’ and ‘Jiangsu University 2024 Doctoral Admission Review and Admission Measures’, in the spirit of fairness, impartiality and conducive to the selection of top-notch and innovative talents, and in conjunction with the actual situation of the College, we have formulated these implementation rules.

1、Student Enrolment Scheme

Our 2024 PhD enrolment plan is 9 students (of which the number of directed students is no more than 1, and the number of directed incentive index is 1), and the actual enrolment will be adjusted according to the enrolment plan issued by the university at the stage of reexamination and admission.

2、Application Requirements, Application Process and Enrolment Methods

Strictly in accordance with the relevant requirements and regulations of ‘Jiangsu University 2024 PhD Admission Regulations’ and ‘Jiangsu University 2024 PhD Admission Review and Admission Measures’.

3、Tutor Enrolment Limit

In principle, the number of students to be recruited by each tutor is one; each eligible outstanding tutor can recruit no more than one student per year on his/her own.

4、Professional Foundation and Comprehensive Competency Assessment Method

(1) Application and Evaluation Methods for Admission to Master's Degree Programmes:

1. The qualification examination will be organised by the Institute before November 24, and the public announcement will be made on the website of the Institute for not less than 5 working days, which contains the basic information of the candidates, the time of obtaining the master's degree, the category of application, the tutor of application, the supporting materials of scientific research achievements (catalogue), and the channels of consultation and complaint.

2. On 1 December the Institute organises not less than five PhD supervisors to assess and mark the application materials submitted by the candidates.

The specific criteria are: 10% for CET-6, or IELTS or TOEFL scores, 30% for published EI and SCI search papers, 20% for participation in scientific research projects, 30% for research plans during the doctoral period (each candidate writes a research plan of not less than 3,000 words), and 10% for other materials that can prove his/her scientific research ability.

The recommended candidates will be assessed on their professional foundation and competence in the form of interview (PPT report, defence), etc., and a score (in percentage) will be given to determine the preliminary list of candidates to be admitted to the Graduate School for review.

The specific assessment programme (including the overall marking scheme) is:

Interview: Candidates' ability to hear and speak foreign languages, 20 per cent; academic level, scientific research ability, general qualities and potential for development in the field of the discipline, 80 per cent.

Material assessment and interview are weighted at 20 % and 80 % respectively.

(2) General Recruitment, Excellent Tutor Independent Recruitment Application Assessment Methods:

General Admission candidates should pay attention to the remaining admission plans of the Institute announced on the University's Graduate Admissions Information Website (http://yz.ujs.edu.cn) in December.

Those who have passed the English proficiency test and those who have been independently recruited by outstanding tutors will enter the comprehensive assessment session.

Comprehensive assessment refers to the Institute's re-examination working group is responsible for the organisation of the professional foundation and ability assessment, the assessment method adopts the form of interview (PPT report, defence), and the results are based on a percentage system.

The specific assessment programme (including marking scheme) is as follows:

1. Assessment of materials (refer to the evaluation criteria in the Master's Degree Recruitment section)

2. Interview (20 per cent of the candidate's ability to hear and speak foreign languages; 80 per cent of the candidate's academic level, scientific research ability, general qualities and potential for development in the field of the discipline).

Material assessment and interview are weighted at 20 % and 80 % respectively.

5、Enrollment

Recruitment for Master's Degree: The Institute determines the list of candidates to be admitted to the Graduate School in accordance with the total results of the candidates‘ assessment and the limit of the number of tutors’ enrolment.

General Recruitment and Independent Recruitment by Outstanding Supervisors: The Institute determines the list of candidates for admission according to the overall results of the assessment and the remaining plans of the Institute (directed student source plan).

There are two types of admission: non-directional and directional. The personnel files and organisational relations of non-oriented doctoral students are transferred to the university, and they will be employed by ‘two-way choice’ after graduation. Oriented doctoral students do not transfer their personnel files during their study period, and the university will sign an orientation training agreement with the candidates and their work units before admission. After graduation, the graduation certificate, degree certificate and school records will be sent by the university to the personnel department of the orientation unit.
