On September 19, the 14th AERI Academic Lecture was held in Lecture Hall 224 of the Automotive Engineering Research Institute. This lecture invited Dr. Hangsheng Hou, a distinguished expert and Technical Director of the R&D Institute at China FAW, to deliver a special report on the topic "Passenger Car Performance Development Based on User Perception and Market Competition Needs." The event was hosted by Haobin Jiang, Dean of the Automotive Engineering Research Institute.
Director Hangsheng Hou began by discussing the management structure of typical car companies, providing a detailed explanation of the various functional departments involved in automotive research and development and their respective roles. He thoroughly described the complete forward development process of passenger cars, from market research and concept design to final mass production. Using Ford and FAW Hongqi's quality target management systems as case studies, he explored vehicle quality management through key areas such as noise, safety, durability, aerodynamics, and water management. Finally, he shared the latest research advancements in occupant injury prediction methods based on deep learning technology. Throughout the lecture, Director Hou also introduced evaluation metrics such as JD Power and VDS pp100, demonstrating how companies adjust their development direction based on market research data.
This academic lecture not only covered cutting-edge technologies in passenger car performance development but also provided insights into vehicle quality control, user experience, corporate operational models, corporate culture, and professional characteristics, broadening the horizons of faculty and students in the institute and offering them valuable industry insights.
After the lecture, Director Hangsheng Hou also visited the laboratories of the Automotive Engineering Research Institute.
